FMP Practice in Year 2

 FMP PRACTICE IN YEAR TWO

My examples:

Context

Ambitions and clarify purpose

 Title Sequence:

  • Explained what genre I wanted my title sequence to be
  • Explained who my target audience is
  • Pointed out what my aims were for the project
  • Explained what I wanted to learn from the project
  • Found inspiration from other title sequences

Research

Range of relevant sources to support ideas

Music Video:

For my music video I researched:

  • Other music videos

  • Genres of music videos

  • Styles

  • Locations

  • Studied treatment for three music videos

  • I analysed a music video with Andrew Goodwin theories

  • Structure/timeline of a music video

  • Job roles

I researched as much as I could in the time I had to gather knowledge of what makes a good music video. I wanted to make sure me and my team knew what style we wanted to go for and how we would achieve that. By researching the structure/timeline of another music video, it helped to give me ideas of how I should structure my music video as mine is not narrative and nor was the one I studied. I wanted to make sure I knew what each job role requires so me and my team could decide who is best for what when it came to the production of the music video.

Problem solving

Decisive decision-making and initiative

 Music Video:

  • Changed location ideas due to Lockdown
  • When weather was bad (i.e. rain) we filmed inside instead of outside
  • Had to have only one person in the music video rather than others even in the background because of Lockdown rules

Planning and production

Detailed and coherent planning, continuous evaluation against aims, efficient production

 Animation:

  • Practiced as many animation styles I could
  • Made a story board
  • Created the set for my Claymation
  • Created the characters/props out of plasticine
  • Evaluated my planning/production every day I did it to say what I did, what went well and what I will do next time

Practical skills

In depth understanding skills and knowledge demonstrated

 Music Video:

  •  Operated the camera
  • I was the cinematographer of the group
  • Experimented with camera angles
  • Set up and use camera equipment (e.g. tripod, shoulder mount etc.)
  • Used editing software (Adobe Premier Pro)

Evaluation and reflection

Maturity in decision making, clarity, perceptive analysis

 Music Video:

  • I used quotes from the lyrics to compare with the visuals
  • I took screenshots from my music video to use as evidence
  • Used six theories from Andrew Goodwin to evaluate my project
  • Compared it to other music videos
  • Explained what I did well in the production
  • Listed three targets I want to develop my skills in

Presentation

Confident selection of ideas to an intended audience

Music Video:

I used eight slides to explain me and my groups ideas for our music video. Using subheadings to title each slide so that it is clear to understand, we first did an introduction to explain what our chosen song is about. We made sure to let the reader know what we wanted to achieve by explaining the look and feel of our music video. This gave a clear understanding of the style we were going to make the music video so the reader can vision it already before even seeing it. We gathered images from other music videos that inspired us and put them on all the slides to show the vibe we were going for. Lastly, we said who in my group is going to do what for the production too show we were all organised and we knew what we were doing.
